SSM License Policy by Version

1. Overview

This document summarizes recent changes to the SSM Viewer License policy and explains how licensing behavior differs by SSM version.

The PM Team Product Update (issued on 10 November 2025) is provided as a reference.

2. Background

Historically, customers could freely obtain an SSM Viewer License from the KHQ website.

This free Viewer License allowed:
- Devices (Camera, NVR, etc.) registration
- Recording for up to 16 channels for registered cameras

As part of a licensing policy update, the availability of this free Viewer License has changed.

From December 2025, the SSM Viewer License is no longer issued via the KHQ website.

4. Impact on SSM License Behavior by Version

Due to the above policy change, license behavior differs depending on the SSM version.
(updated by Jan 2026)

SSM Version Behavior When Trial License Expires
Below 2.19.02 - All registered devices become inaccessible
- Recording is not possible
- All cameras switch to Live-only mode (live-only channels)
2.19.02 or later
(Current latest: 2.20.00)
- NVR remains accessible and usable
- Restrictions for other devices remain the same as below 2.19.02
(e.g., recording disabled, device access limitations depending on licensing state)
2.21 or later
(Planned: May 2026)
- All devices remain accessible
- Cameras still operate in Live-only mode by default (recording disabled)
- Recording becomes available when installing either:
Viewer license (16-channel limitation) or • Paid recording license
- ANPR/LPR license only enables integration (monitoring)
(recording requires a Viewer or Recording license)

5. Note (Policy Direction)

  • Free features are being gradually expanded.
  • The long-term direction is to allow all functionality except recording without charge, while making recording require either:
    • Viewer license (16-channel limitation), or
    • Paid recording license.
