1. Summary
A bug has been identified in certain Novatek-based NVR models where the Monitor Event feature loops continuously under specific conditions. This article describes the issue, affected models, and the resolution.
2. Background
Wisenet NVRs support a Monitor Event feature that automatically switches the HDMI UI to full screen when an event occurs on a specific channel. Normally, once a user manually returns to the split-screen view, the same alarm event does not trigger the full-screen switch again.
3. Issue Details
1) Symptoms
On Novatek-based NVRs such as the XRN-815S (firmware version 5.06.62), the Monitor Event feature loops repeatedly under certain conditions.
2) Event Configuration
- Event Trigger: NVR Alarm Input
- Event Action: Monitor Event
3) Behavior
When the NVR Alarm Input is activated, the system alternates between:
Split Screen → Full Screen → Split Screen → Full Screen
This behavior continues until the alarm input is deactivated.
There is no manual way to stop this behavior from the live monitoring screen.
4) Affected Models
- XRN-815S
- QRN-830S
- QRN-1630S
4. Resolution
1) Beta Firmware Fix
The issue has been resolved in the following beta firmware:
QRN-1630S_5.35.10_250310085505.img
2) Fix Details
The updated behavior now aligns with other models—once the user exits full-screen view, the same alarm will no longer repeatedly trigger the Monitor Event.
3) Official Release Timeline
The fix is scheduled to be included in the official firmware update planned for May 2025.
